Frequently Asked Questions

What diagnoses do you treat?

This depends on the clinician.  However, currently our practice is treating the following diagnoses among many more:

How often do I have to go to therapy?

Most clients in outpatient therapy are seen on a weekly or biweekly basis.  After clinician and client have collaboratively identified significant progress towards your treatment goals we will meet less often for the last several months of treatment.

How long does each therapy session?

Each session is 50 minutes.

How long will I need therapy?

The duration of treatment depends on the severity of your symptoms and how much it is affecting your daily functioning.  However, we will collaboratively, during our first session, determine an estimated length of treatment.

Is everything I say in therapy confidential?

Yes. A client's information is protected by law through HIPAA.  Therefore, a clinician providing mental health services is bound by law to maintain your information confidential.  As psychologists we treat with great care all the information you share.  It is your legal right that our sessions and records about you be kept private.  You will be asked to sign a form before anyone on our staff can talk about you or send records about you to anyone else.  We will not even reveal that you are receiving treatment from our office.  There are some exceptions to this right to privacy, we will discuss these during our first session.

Do you prescribe medications?

No.  Psychologists in our practice provide outpatient therapy in the form of talk therapy.  Generally, medications for mental health difficulties are prescribed by psychiatrists.  Currently, we do not provide psychiatric services in our office.  However, if you need assistance finding a psychiatry provider our staff is happy to help you in that process.
