Pre-Licensed Counselor
Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern

I am Milagros, a bilingual (English and Spanish) pre-licensed mental health counseling intern. I was born in Uruguay and have had the unique experience of living in three different countries. These personal relocations have shaped my perspective and inspired my passion for supporting children, teens, and families as they navigate life’s challenges with compassion and collaboration.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Florida International University and my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lynn University. My background includes work in developmental psychology research, where I explored the effects of praise on children and contributed to a manuscript currently in progress. This research has strengthened my clinical foundation and deepened my understanding of how children and families grow and thrive.

During my internship at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, I had the privilege of working with children, adolescents, and families from diverse backgrounds. I supported clients experiencing anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, grief, adjustment difficulties, self-harming behaviors, and autism spectrum disorder. I also co-facilitated therapeutic groups that helped youth manage school and social anxiety.

My clinical approach integrates cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, and a strengths-based perspective to tailor treatment to each client’s needs. I find CBT especially effective when working with children, while a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach with adolescents and families fosters deeper, long-lasting change. Above all, I believe that a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship is the foundation for meaningful growth and healing.

With gentle guidance, I strive to help each client discover their inner strengths, build resilience, and move toward greater well-being. My work is collaborative, nonjudgmental, and rooted in deep respect for each person’s unique experiences and life story.

Pre-Licensed Counselor
Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern

I’m Brianna Gomez, a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern born and raised in Miami, Florida. I hold dual master’s degrees in Psychology and Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Louisiana Monroe. My therapeutic approach is grounded in trauma-informed care with a strong foundation in narrative therapy. I also integrate techniques from Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), grief counseling, and attachment-based practices. This combination allows me to help clients make sense of their experiences and move forward with greater clarity, purpose, and confidence.
My clinical experience comes from working in a trauma center where I have supported children, adolescents, and adults from diverse cultural backgrounds. I specialize in helping clients navigate trauma, anxiety, grief, and life transitions. I also have experience supporting athletes in managing emotional and performance-related challenges. In our work together, I strive to create a safe, supportive space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to reshape your story and explore new ways of being. I believe that healing is not a linear process — there will be ups and downs — and that’s okay. Learning how to navigate life’s difficult moments can lead to growth, resilience, and lasting change.
No one should have to face life’s challenges alone. Together, we can work toward healing, clarity, and a stronger sense of self — one day at a time.

Pre-Licensed Counselor
Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern

I was born and raised in Miami, Florida and first completed my Bachelor of Arts at the University of South Florida, majoring in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences with a concentration in Psychology and Sociology. I later earned a dual Master of Arts in Psychology with an emphasis in Counseling Psychology from Webster Vienna Private University in Austria and Webster University in Missouri. My training abroad allowed me to practice holistic counseling in diverse spaces including international social hubs, LGBTQIA+ cultural centers, and a university counseling center. Working with clients across cultures and identities shaped my belief that healing honors the whole self: mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual.
Queer-Affirming Therapy & Faith-Based Trauma
I specialize in working with the LGBTQIA+ community, with a particular focus on the impact of spiritual or religious trauma. Many clients carry wounds from shame-based or faith-based experiences that have affected their identity, sexuality, and self-worth. These unresolved experiences often fuel anxiety, depression, and difficulty embracing authenticity. In our work together, I help clients process these experiences, rebuild self-trust, and cultivate compassion toward the parts of themselves that have felt silenced or shamed.

Expressive Arts Interventions
While talk therapy is powerful, words sometimes fall short in capturing the complexity of lived experience. I integrate expressive arts interventions such as poetry, psychodrama, and music-based practices (including singing bowls, steel drums, and performance-oriented methods). These creative modalities help clients externalize and reframe internal struggles, bypass intellectual defenses, and access healing through body, rhythm, and metaphor. For many, expressive arts provide a deeper, embodied sense of release and integration than conversation alone can offer.

Anxiety, Depression, & Perfectionism
I also work extensively with clients struggling with anxiety and depression, with a particular specialization in perfectionism. Perfectionism often shows up as relentless self-criticism, fear of failure, and difficulty feeling “good enough.” Together, we identify the cognitive distortions and underlying beliefs driving these patterns, while practicing mindfulness and self-compassion techniques that allow clients to reconnect with a sense of balance and authenticity.

My Approach
Grounded in client-centered and humanistic philosophies, my therapeutic style is collaborative and relational. I draw from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Gestalt therapy, and expressive arts to meet clients where they are. Above all, I believe the therapeutic relationship itself is the foundation of healing: a space built on empathy, acceptance, and respect for your journey of self-discovery.

In therapy with me, both client and therapist have the potential to transform the space into their own unique canvas.

Psychotherapist

Hello, I'm Dr. Gia. I’m originally from South Florida and proudly embrace my Colombian and Puerto Rican heritage. My journey in mental health began over a decade ago, working with community organizations and advocating for human equality. These experiences deepened my desire to better understand the human condition and support others in their healing. I earned my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology with a focus on the mind-body connection, particularly the brain-gut relationship. My clinical training spans a wide range of settings, including Jackson Memorial Hospital and the University of Miami Health System. There, I worked across inpatient medical units (Ryder Trauma Center, Christine Lynn Rehab), psychiatric units (Jackson Behavioral Health), crisis stabilization programs, community mental health centers, and outpatient clinics.

Licensed Clinical Psychologist / Founder

I am originally from Miami, Florida. I obtained my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from NOVA Southeastern University, where I specialized in long-term mental illness, and got my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Florida State University. I have had the privilege of treating clientele from diverse backgrounds in both English and Spanish, and have experience working in a variety of settings such as inpatient programs, crisis units, community mental health centers, and outpatient clinics. While my theoretical orientation is eclectic, I lean toward Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Rogerian (or Person-Centered) approaches.
I am proficient in treating several mental health issues, including:
-
schizophrenia other related psychotic disorders,
-
bipolar disorder and other related mood disorders,
-
substance abuse including dual-diagnosis,
-
gender dysphoria.
I help clients identify their problematic thinking patterns, develop coping mechanisms, process trauma, and understand how past experiences affect their current level of functioning. I value the transformative nature of strong therapeutic relationships, and am proficient in providing therapy for individuals and groups. My goal is to apply my compassion and expertise to the therapeutic process, while helping my clients improve their lives, ultimately attaining a sense of peace and fulfillment.

In therapy, I am empathetic, nonjudgmental, and personable; I create a safe space in which clients can begin the process of healing. When needed, I know how to gently guide people through the exploration of their vulnerabilities, losses, grief, and trauma. The philosophy behind my therapeutic approach is best captured in Ernest Hemingway’s famous words: “The world breaks everyone, and afterward, some are strong at the broken places.”
